The process and quality of store bought hair is quite different. Store bought or non-remy hair comes from what the industry calls “fallen” hair.  Fallen hair is hair that has simply fallen during the process of cutting the hair. Manufacturers then process the “fallen” hair. Their process consists of an acid bath and silicon dip. The silicon dip adds a coating to the hair which makes the hair appear shiny and straight. However, once you wash the hair it begins to return to its original state of damaged, unhealthy hair, as the layer of silicon is washed off.
